BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis

The BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, offers this internationally recognized certification, enabling you to take your skills around the world. The four modules required to apply for this certification include one foundation level course, and three practitioner level courses. 

  • BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis

  • BCS Certificate in Business Analysis Practice

  • BCS Certificate in Modelling Business Processes

  • BCS Certificate in Requirements Engineering

You can take a bundled programme of courses or separately.

  • Each module typically takes 3 full-days of classroom study (21 hours) followed by an exam

Prerequisites

You need to complete four module.


Core modules  

You must pass both of these:

  • Business Analysis Practice - Learn how to take a holistic approach to the investigation and improvement of business analysis

 

  • Requirements Engineering - Learn how to elicit, analyse, validate, define, document and manage requirements

Knowledge based modules  

You must pass one of these:

  • Business Analysis Foundation - Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques - most delegates start their journey towards the Diploma with this certificate

  • Business Change - Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques - most delegates start their journey towards the Diploma with this certificate

 

  • IS Project Management - Look into project management issues in the context of IS/IT applications

  • Organisational Behaviour - Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and techniques - most delegates start their journey towards the Diploma with this certificate

Practitioner modules

You must pass one of these:

  • Modelling Business Processes - Learn how to apply business process modelling and analysis techniques and understand a framework for business process improvement

  • Systems Modelling Techniques - Learn how to construct three types of model and describe interactions between them

  • Systems Development Essentials - Focus on the systems investigation and quality assurance that underpins all systems development

 

  • Data Management Essentials - Show you can implement good practice in data management, develop procedures for managing corporate data and work with the data management team

  • Benefits Management and Business Acceptance - Validate your knowledge, skills and capabilities with the internationally-recognised BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.

Exemptions for holders of IIBA CBAP and IREB CPRE-FL

  • If you are a CBAP, you are exempt from 

    • ​Business Analysis Foundation, and

    • Requirements Engineering

  • If you are a CPRE-FL, you are exempt from ​

    • Requirements Engineering​

Format and Material

  • Up to 50 minutes oral examination with two examiners

  • Questions will be based on topics defined in the oral examination syllabus and from your chosen specialist modules. The questions will require you to apply your business analysis knowledge and understanding to scenarios described by the oral examiners

  • One hour, closed book for each certification.

  • Multiple choice

  • Pass mark is 65% (26 out of 40)

International Diploma in Business Analysis
